Lura and City of Hamilton Share OPPI Award

The City of Hamilton and Lura Consulting received an Excellence in Planning Award award from the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI).  The award was in the Communications/Public Education Category and celebrated The City of Hamilton and Lura’s work on The IDEAS CAFÉ.  The project used innovative engagement techniques in a series of workshops that contributed to the City’s ‘Ottawa Streetscape Master Plan'.

On January 30th and February 6th 2013 members of the Ottawa St. Business Improvement Association came together to share food, coffee, tea and ideas to determine what the future of Ottawa Street could be in 20 years. They were also invited to brainstorm and prioritize key opportunities that were organized by the kind of experience that they would like to have on Ottawa Street. The purpose of these workshops was to kick-start the City of Hamilton’s Streetscape Master Plan and to get advice from business owners and the BIA on what to focus on during the study.

Lura would like to congratulate the City of Hamilton, the Ottawa Street BIA and the local businesses and community members who participated in this important project.
