Monday June 24, Sustainable Hamilton hosted its first annual evening of recognition in celebration of the organizations that have participated in the 2012-2013 period. At the event Sustainable Hamilton released its first annual sustainability reporting document on Hamilton businesses. Lura Consulting is one of eight businesses in the Hamilton community that has adopted this reporting mechanism to propagate sustainable development, improve local practices, and increase transparency.
The evening of recognition was held at the Royal Botanical Gardens and attended by almost 200 people who were there to recognize sustainability thought leaders in the community. A keynote address was delivered by Dr. Blair Feltmate, Professor and Director, Sustainability Practice, Faculty of Environment, University of Waterloo who spoke on accelerating Canada’s sustainability movement.
CEO, Liz Nield, was one of the sustainability experts speaking on the evenings panel. “Lura is proud have been part of the initial report, and will continue to do so in the future. Hamilton has a wealth of sustainability knowledge and this report adds value, credibility, and concrete measurement to the change being made”.
